3 HOUR ALCOHOL / SAFE N SOBER

Immigrants who possess a drivers license from another country may be able to acquire a Maryland drivers license after taking a 3 Hour Alcohol Course called the "Safe and Sober" Program. This course explains some basic driving facts and the consequences of impaired driving in Maryland.

Maryland MVA now allows 3 Hour Alcohol Program Providers to submit 3 Hour Alcohol Program completions electronically to the MVA using the participant’s Maryland ID number. Drive on Time Driving School staff can apply for Maryland ID NumberS for participants who do not already possess a Maryland ID. Information required:

• Proof of Age and Identity Document with photo.Examples include an Out of Country License, International Driver’s License, Foreign Passport, or other qualifying document which includes a photo of the participant.
• Full Name
• Address
• Date of Birth

3 Hour Alcohol Online Course

1. Complete online course.

2. Print online course completion.

3. Schedule the In-Person Final Exam (Currently only offered at our Salisbury location).

4. ring printed online course completion, passport/international driver’s license/out of country license to the final exam appointment.

5. Pass the Final Exam (If a participant fails to achieve a score of 80% or higher on the exam, participant must wait 24 hours before retaking the final exam.

6. Pay the course fee: $100 (cash, credit or debit card, or money orders accepted).

7. 3 Hour Alcohol Program Completion will be submitted electronically to the MVA within 24 hours of completing the course requirements.
